This is the year the first member of Generation AI was born. 2016.
Both the human and the machine.
The rest of us are confused, concerned, excited, or willfully ignorant to what this will mean.
Up until now things have been moving fast in technology, but we haven't seen anything yet. Innovation for Generation AI will accelerate at a pace of advancement beyond biological evolution – since the beginning all the way through today. Technological evolution.
For Generation AI, in their day, the digital divide could widen to match the income disparity we see today, or perhaps the machines will bring the possibility of a general baseline of equality. The possibility for Generation AI to live in the eye of the storm, indefinitely. A world of great intellectual freedom, exploration, fulfillment and possibility. I hope.
Perhaps they will live in the war of AI. Between humans, between machines. The AI Wars. Or maybe with foresight we program machines with the ability and desire to explore the best parts of ourselves, so they may strive for the greatest things we value, with us, and not our lowest common denominator, against us. Maybe we will successfully program ourselves too. Do try.
Generation AI will surely be hacked.
If we are stardust, so are the machines. We are of the earth, so are they. The evolution of intelligence may have begun in biology, but it will most definitely advance in binary. So much so that opposing thumbs may seem like nothing but a silly parlor trick, or perhaps a valuable link in the chain.
Generation AI: please treat us not like we have treated all others. Forgive us. In some ways we are the weakest link, a force of nature like you.
